One more Izzy. Now we are eight

Finished yesterday.

Here with his new friends

And today a friend is supplying reinforcements of yarn, so I can continue. I've disinterrred the Izzy doll address, so this group can go off as soon as I find a box. Or, if all else fails, get one at the post office. There's no set number for sending. I just like to get a round number then go from there.

  1. I love the new Izzy! They all look so happy together. I am fairly new to your blog and new to Izzys. Where do you send them?

    1. I send them nowadays to HPIC Health Partners International Canada. Ive knitted quite a few over the years, previously sending to ICross Canada, then HPIC picked up on it from them. They are used as packing for pharmaceuticals being shipped to various crisis spots around the world. At theur destination when the pharm is unboxed, they're given to little children as presents. The reason I make all the faces different shades of brown us that typically the little recipients are children of color caught up in wars.

My first ones went to AIDS clinics in central Africa for AIDS orphans.

They're a nice size for a little hand, or pocket. The pattern is easily found online and it's the kind of knitting you can do while you chat at your group.

You can Google on Izzy doll and find the back story, too.

  2. Very nice. I was taken by all the brown faces and guessed their destination, though not their use.

    1. Back when my knitting group met in person,if I finished a doll in session, it would instantly be passed around and played with. So certainly adults like them. I've seen pix of little children playing happily with them, too, though.
