Izzy dolls, current kickline

Latest Izzy doll has joined the group of Most Wanted.

After  a few more, I'll ship a group to HPIC.  Canadian group of emergency healthcare professionals who deliver supplies and care in crisis areas and give the dolls to young children.

  1. I used to send a lot of them to Icross Canada, and had wonderful pix of little kids clutching then happily. Then HPIC took over and I'm continuing with them, now that I've found out about them. There's a moving backstory to the Izzy doll. Google on it for the history.

  2. I started an Izzy a couple of nights ago and then got sidetracked. I must research more about the HPIC - don't think I had heard of them before. I knew about the previous organization but lost track.

    1. Yes, exactly. I made a lot of them for Billy at ICROSS Canada, then lost track till I found this group had taken over the dolls. Then I resumed. Once people see a doll in person and hear the story, they want to get involved.

      Very glad you're in it.

  3. Oh my...'The Quaker" (my Mom) used to make these by the dozens! I haven't thought about them for years. Thanks for bringing back such wonderful memories.

    1. Any chance of hearing why she's known as the Quaker?

  4. They are fun to make. My knitting friends play with them if I take them to the group. The minute one is done, they pass it around.

I need simple stuff like this for social knitting, can't be doing lace while chatting.

  5. Adorable. I just looked up and watched a video about the story behind the Izzy Doll. What sweet toys they will be for children in need of comfort.
